Cancer has a major impact on society in the United States and across the world. In 2023 in the United States, there will be an estimated 1,688,780 new cancer cases and 600,920 cancer deaths. However, the number of people living beyond a cancer diagnosis reached nearly 14.5 million in 2014 and is expected to rise to almost 20 million by 2025. On October 19, 2024, the John Lancaster, W. Cecil Short Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Tau Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will host a MasQuerade Ball for Cancer Survivors at The JayCees in Waldorf, Maryland. This event will honor those who are battling with cancer, and those whose cancer is in remission. In addition, the event will honor individuals and groups who have supported persons with cancer.
