Empowering Youths
Founded in 2005 by the Tau Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the John Lancaster & W. Cecil Short Charity Foundation has worked with parents, teachers and counselors to empower and support youths in the Southern Maryland Region. This support is crucial for shaping the future of our community.
Through dedication and collaboration, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals, guiding them towards success and fulfillment.
Mission
We seek is to enhance the quality of life for the citizens in the Southern Maryland Region through education and cultural activities.
The foundation was incorporated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, meeting all requirements of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The goals of the foundation are to generate and distribute financial resources to assist youth from the Tri-County area of Maryland which is composed of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties.
By working with the local community through parents and teachers, counselors, and others who influence students; we are helping to create long-term, self-sustaining solutions for the community.
Working to empower and support youth, rather than providing one-time handouts creates a cycle of pride and success that achieves greater long-term benefits.
The John Lancaster and W. Cecil Short Charity Foundation believes in achieving the objectives of support through participation in functions and events that make our communities a better place to live, work and attend school; to support education and cultural initiatives; to better the lives of Tri-County youth, and aid their families during times of need; and to serve as leaders and resources for the communities philanthropic needs.
